The Techne Web Quest: How can we improve our ability to talk about technology?

Level Two Tasks

Your challenge here is to devise names for as many of the four meanings that you agree are currently within the domain of technology. Give names to as many of the four areas of technology that can to be distinguished from each other that you defined. Building our vocabulary of words about technology that relate to each other will help us to talk more clearly about the impact of technology on life and society. The four areas proposed for inclusion are:

1. Designs or practical, applied systems of knowledge
2. Objects and Devices
3. The degree of expertise demonstrated in using an object, device, and/or system of applied knowledge,
4. Consequences of technology.

Please include, or specifically exclude, the concept of responsibility in your named categories.
